Welcome to the Palace Cinema, Broadstairs
The small cinema with a huge welcome
The Palace Cinema is privately owned by people who are passionate about both cinema and keeping alive this seaside entertainment venue in Broadstairs, a place which has given so much pleasure to so many people, for generations. Located on the sea front near to good local pubs and restaurants it provides the focus for a great day out. We shall be pleased to make you welcome.
The deceptively small entrance to our unique cinema, housed within a Grade 11 listed building, has often made people wonder if it perhaps might be the smallest cinema in the UK. Alas we cannot claim this accolade, as with our 111 seats we have nearly five times the number of seats of the UK's smallest cinema.
The visible entrance building to the Palace Cinema only houses the 23 balcony seats, while the 88 cinema stalls are actually located beneath ground level.
In a Guardian newspaper review, in celebration of small cinemas, the Palace Cinema was in fact the largest among the ten that were featured. Read the Guardian review here.
Watch the latest films, 364 days a year
We screen the very latest feature films and the cinema is open every day except for Christmas Day.
Watch in comfort
The Palace Cinema features a large screen, running almost the full width of the building. It is comparable in size to those in modern cinema complexes and is, in many cases, larger.
The cinema is fitted with the latest Dolby stereo sound and air-conditioning is provided to ensure the comfort of our customers, whatever the weather outside.
